1A-Intro To Aerospace Studies
This program is an advanced, hands-on learning experience designed for students ages 12–15 who are ready to engage deeply with complex concepts, take responsibility for their learning, and work collaboratively in real-world settings. Students are introduced to aviation, aerospace, and space science through inquiry-based learning that emphasizes critical thinking, technical skill-building, and problem-solving. From the start, students are treated as young professionals—learning expectations, safety practices, and the importance of teamwork, communication, and accountability.
Throughout the program, students explore the science and engineering principles that make flight and space exploration possible. Lessons integrate physics, chemistry, meteorology, cybersecurity, and systems engineering as students investigate aerodynamics, propulsion, navigation, and human performance. Learning is reinforced through authentic aviation experiences, such as rides in a helicopter, powered airplane, and glider airplane, as well as a visit to iFLY. These experiences allow students to connect theory to practice in powerful, memorable ways.
Learning is extended through immersive experiences such as expert-led workshops, technical builds, simulations, and mission-based challenges. Students collaborate in teams, take on defined roles, and make independent decisions as they work through complex aerospace scenarios. The program also emphasizes career exploration, exposing students to a wide range of aviation, aerospace, and STEM pathways. By the end of the program, students have developed confidence, technical skills, and a strong foundation for advanced coursework and future careers in aviation, engineering, space science, and related fields.
