Intro to Flight Training (IFT) - Powered

The IFT Powered Flight Training program offers students ages 14+ and up the opportunity to train with FAA-certified flight instructors at their local flight school. This program provides flight experience, structured ground school instruction and sets students on the path toward earning their Private Pilot Certificate.

Students enrolled in this course will complete flight training with experienced FAA-certified flight instructors. They will be paired with a flight school in their local area. Students will be able to log flight hours as well as develop the skill set needed to continue on in the aviation industry.

For students eager to take to the skies and start their aviation journey, the IFT Powered Flight Training Program is the ideal launch pad toward a future in flight..


Over the Horizon Classes

Beyond technical training, students will participate in weekly "Over the Horizon" classes, where aviation professionals and guest speakers share their expertise, career insights, and flight experiences. These classes provide invaluable industry knowledge and inspiration for aspiring pilots. Students can attend virtually or in-person at the Colorado Military Academy.

FAA Ground School & Private Pilot Written Exam Preparation

In addition to flight training, students will attend weekly ground school classes designed to prepare them for the FAA Private Pilot Written Exam.

This structured curriculum covers:

  • Aerodynamics and aircraft systems

  • Navigation and flight planning

  • Weather and airspace regulations

  • FAA rules and procedures

Lab Fees: $375 per semester/ $750 per year, Lab fee assistance program available by application available during registration (April).
