Introduction to Flight Training - Gliders
Gliders are fixed-wing aircraft that rely on aerodynamics and "lift" instead of engines to soar through the sky. The IFT Gliders program provides an immersive learning experience for students *ages 13+, combining expert flight instruction, ground school, and unique aviation education opportunities.
*Students must turn 13 by May 15, 2026, to ensure solo at age 14 before the academic year ends
Learn & Fly with Expert Instructors
Students in the IFT Gliders program receive hands-on training from experienced soaring instructors. Each student participates in ground school sessions and has the opportunity to complete up to 20 glider flights, preparing them for their first solo flight. A majority of our students solo as part of our glider program.
Over the Horizon Classes
Beyond flight training, students engage in weekly "Over the Horizon" classes, where industry professionals and aviation experts share their knowledge and experiences. These inspiring sessions help students expand their understanding of aviation and career opportunities in aerospace. Classes are available both virtually and in-person at the Colorado Military Academy.
IFT Gliders is the perfect opportunity for young aviation enthusiasts to take their first step into the world of soaring flight. Whether you're looking to explore aviation as a hobby or pursue a career in aerospace, this program will give you the skills and confidence to fly higher.
